London's Calling

What a weekend! Twenty four intrepid adventurers hit up the big smoke for the first ORBIT Youth Council weekend. Eighteen young people joined a team from Jupiter Artland to see some exciting exhibitions and explore the themes of community, commerce and connectivity. We were lucky to hear Rachel Maclean talking about her latest exhibition at the National Gallery, 'The Lion and the Unicorn' and enjoy an exclusive private view of Yayoi Kusama's sold out show 'The Moving Moment when I went to the Universe'. In between times we journeyed to the Zabludowicz Collection to see Rachel Maclean's first full length feature 'Make Me Up', engaged in some spirited role play exploring the perils and pitfalls of creating public art and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know one another! The Youth Council came together from all corners of Scotland, representing diverse communities and points of view. Over the coming months they will work together to find out more about the impact art can have on the places they represent.
